Fruity Pebble Treats

I don’t know if Groom’s cakes are still a thing or not, but 5 years ago they were, and BirdBelly Husband had the most unique one I have ever seen. No, he didn’t want a cake with his favorite pastime represented, or his favorite team, or even his favorite beer. He wanted his favorite treat. A treat we first had on an unusual lunch day at school. There must have been a cereal sale that week, because Fruity Pebble Treats were the dessert that day at school, and hooked Birdbelly Husband for life.

You can imagine that when we were cake tasting for the wedding, my mom and I were shocked and delighted that Birdbelly Husband was so sure of what he wanted for his “cake.” We were so happy that our cake maker was up for the challenge. Fruity Pebble treats, cut and stacked like a tiered cake.

Five years later, I made the treats for the first time. I don’t know what took me so long. It’s not like I can remake our Strawberry Bavarian five-tier cake, but I can easily make Fruit Pebble treats. What was I waiting for?? No more, and here for the entire world to enjoy.

Fruity Pebble Treats!

The Process:

In a large bowl add the cereal, and half bag of mini marshmallows (5 oz)

Then melt the butter over medium heat with a pinch of salt, until slightly golden in color. Turn the heat to low and add in the rest of the marshmallows (large and small), and stir constantly until the marshmallows have all melted.

Pour the melted marshmallows over the cereal and quickly and gently stir until combined.

Transfer to a greased pan, such as 9×13 or 11×15. The smaller the pan the thicker/taller the treats will be. You could also use two 8×8 pans.

Then spray a piece of foil with non-stick cooking spray and use that to press the treats into the pan. This is the best way to press the treats down, without having the mixture stick to every finger or spoon you have.

Then cut it into bars and enjoy!
