Beer bread has been one of my favorite carbs ever since I first devoured the box mix you can buy through Tastefully Simple. I would beg my mom to get multiple boxes every time she placed an order. I just couldn’t get enough of it.
It was just a few years ago when I discovered just how simple beer bread is to make from scratch! No kneading, and no pressure of warming yeast just right. Is it just me that sees yeast in a recipe and has a mini panic attack? Well, its a little known fact that one of the main ingredients in beer is…YEAST!
All you need for a simple beer bread is flour, baking powder, salt, and beer. But by adding a few additional ingredients, that I am sure you always have on hand, you can really make it perfect. Butter will give it the golden crust, and honey to bring out a slightly sweet flavor.
I used a local Hefeweizen from Nebraska Brewing Company, but you can use any beer. Based on the beer you choose you can really change up the flavor of the bread. From a classic domestic beer, that you most likely always have at least one of in the fridge, to a Maple Ale variety that you buy specifically to kick up the flavor of the bread for, they all work! I chose the Hefeweizen for two reasons: 1) because I had one in my fridge 2) because I thought the wheat style beer would lend an amazing flavor to the bread.
So here it is , the simple way to make Homemade Beer Bread!
The Process:
Preheat the oven to 350.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Then add in the beer, and mix together.
Finally stir in half of the melted butter, and honey.
Transfer to a greased loaf pan, and pour the remaining butter over the top.
Place in the oven for 1 hour.
Enjoy!
